CRIB holds key symposium for lenders

The Credit Information Bureau of Sri Lanka (“CRIB”) recently held a symposium on "Credit Reports and Beyond" for its stakeholders at the Hotel Ramada in Colombo. The event was attended by CEOs, compliance officers and credit officers from every authorized lending institution including commercial banks and specialized banks as well as leasing and finance companies, and was a success.

"Credit Reports and Beyond" featured three industry-reputed speakers from overseas who addressed the gathering on the ways in which credit bureaus can help to develop lending operations and analytical models for risk management practices.

The international speakers included Dr. Subramanian Venkataraman, Risk Consulting Practice Head - Dun & Bradstreet India, V. Narasimhan, Chief Operating Officer -
Dun & Bradstreet Dubai, Priyantha Fernando, CRIB Chairman and Deputy Governor, Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Tony Lythgoe, Financial Infrastructure and Global Credit Bureaus Head – IFC World Bank, and Gamini Karunaratne, General Manager, CRIB.

"CRIB plays a vital role in the realm of credit risk management and the promotion of a healthy credit culture in the country," said Karunaratne. "Our aim of holding this event was to promote further understanding of credit risk management and the role of CRIB in facilitating responsible lending decisions," he said.
